2025 Pool Rehab Project
The Soledad Pool will be closed from September 2025 to January 2026 for a long-overdue rehabilitation project. The pool’s fiberglass finish, installed in the 1990s, has been deteriorating over the past seven years, making this renovation essential for safety and longevity.
One of our greatest challenges in maintaining and improving our indoor pool facility is District funding. The District continues to operate on its original tax apportionment and has never sought an increase in taxes for operations or pursued a bond for a full facility rehabilitation.
For over seven years, the Recreation District has been diligently collecting funds for this deferred maintenance project. However, these funds can only support a limited number of necessary repairs to our 50-year-old facility.
Upcoming Improvements
During this closure, we will focus on critical renovations to improve safety, efficiency, and the overall patron experience, including:
- Refinishing the fiberglass pool surface to enhance safety and address leaks
- Inspecting and repairing plumbing and piping below deck to ensure long-term functionality
- Replacing the original tile along the pool edge and within the gutter system
- Reinforcing the pool edge coping stones for structural integrity
- Installing new, energy-efficient pool heaters for better temperature control
- Upgrading the filtration system for the outdoor wading pool
- Replacing the main filtration system with a more effective, low-maintenance alternative
Completed Upgrades
As part of this ongoing improvement initiative, we have already completed several smaller upgrades:
- Replaced damaged Women’s Locker Room benches (previously compromised by termites)
- Added additional patron storage options for convenience
- Upgraded emergency door mechanics for enhanced security
- Improved the patio area to enhance the patron experience
Future Needs
While this rehabilitation project addresses several urgent facility needs, there are many more improvements required to meet the needs of our growing community. Our Board of Directors remains committed to exploring funding solutions and reducing program costs for community members.
Future projects not included in this phase but still needed include:
- Improved entries, exits, and parking lot accessibility
- Lobby and locker room renovations or expansion
- Family changing rooms for increased accessibility
- Pool deck amenities such as bleachers, spectator seating, diving boards, play structures, lighting, and climate control
- Mechanical room and storage improvements
- Additional meeting spaces, staff areas, and rental spaces for community programming
We are so thankful we will be able to reopen in January 2026 with an improved facility for our community to enjoy! We appreciate your patience and support as we embark on this significant renovation. Our goal is to preserve and enhance the Soledad Pool for generations to come.
